I. Respect human life and those who have passed on, treat them all with dignity.
II. Refrain from supporting or committing crimes on an investigation. This also means reporting any vandalism witnessed in haunted locations.
III. Treat those who believe themselves haunted with competence, compassion and without prejudice.
IV. Protect the privacy and confidentiality of our clients.
V. Remain calm during an investigation. Never scream or run, or react in a way as to distress the client.
VI. Work freely with other colleagues and groups, to discover, develop, and promote advances in our field. Discourage rivalries and territorialism.
VII. Educate the public and skeptics on what it is we do, and what we hope to accomplish. If they argue or debate, end the subject of conversation as politely as possible.
VIII. Teach and mentor those who wish to follow us, for they are the future of our field.
IX. Above all else, err on the side of caution. Use common sense, get permission to investigate. Never go alone, and never be alone. Make sure someone knows where you are.
